It's always sad to leave a project and move on to the next thing. About 2 months back, I said good bye to one of my side projects www.couchrated.com ( domain no longer active ) .
What was couchrated.com
couchrated.com was my attempt to be a movie reviewer. I like watching and talking about movies and with that thought started my own movie review site.
How it all started
I watch most of the movies which hit the screen each Friday(in India). As someone who is known to watch movies which release, friends and family ask me, what I thought of a particular movie, before they went ahead and bought their ticket.
I love talking about the movies I watch as well. What I liked about the movie and where the movie failed to make sense to me. It was fun, and after one of my friends suggested that I start a movie review website, I thought why not! That's how couchrated.com started.
A weekend project
Since I was working at my day job, I decided to build couchrated.com as a weekend project. I did some research on Friday evening on which platform to host this project and after some looking around, decided to go with Wordpress.
Why Wordpress?
I had worked with Wordpress before but my knowledge was limited to installing/modifying themes and installing plugins. I thought it would be fun to build a theme from scratch. There was something to be learn't and I thought this was a nice opportunity.

Why it failed
I like movies, I still watch movies which release(although not all of them now), the thing which did not work out with couchrated was that, I was not good at putting my thoughts in writing. I wrote 6 reviews on the website and then stopped.If the movie was good, I had lots to write about, what worked and what did not, but if the movie was bad, I was short of words.
Also I did not enjoy the writing process, the thought of having to write a review after coming back, made me not want to watch the movie. Thats when I knew I had to stop doing this. I did not enjoy the process.

For me personally, I am moving on to the next thing, a project related to Indian Cinema. More on that soon.
